I am against vaccines, and if I had my children over, I would not have done it with the info I know now. Do a little search on Jane Burgermister and see what her findings were a few yrs back. Ann, to answer your question: It’s easy to look up the latest figures on Meningococcal outbreaks in Africa. From this standpoint you are correct, that more people might have died if perhaps the vaccine had not been used to fight outbreaks. I suppose that your contention is that “the ends justify the means” – as in the paralysis of 50 children may well be justified in how many lives are saved by immunization.
The only problem with this is that if you look at the root causes of the “African Meningitis Belt” it is largely centred on environmental conditions that are mostly caused and perpetuated by economic forces directed by the western industrial complex. So Bill Gates on the one hand is part of this industrial complex that has left Africa derelict and African children starve by way of drought, war, and economic hardship; and on the other hand that same industrial complex wants to sell cheap “bargain basement” (Dr. Maurice Hilleman) vaccines to a region in Africa that has been historically trampled on by the West. There is hardly a question that this “Problem-Reaction-Solution” scenario works only in the favour of the mega pharmaceutical companies that make these vaccines. Why, if they really cared about the African children’s health for the sake of kindness (and not as a means to line their pockets) then they would push for a much more cost-efficient method of prevention (one that yields no profits and pays no dividends to those involved other than the satisfaction of having done right by somebody) – namely, that of removing the conditions, both economic and environmental, that wreak havoc on individual health and the health of African societies.
Oh gee..why would the philanthrocapitalists give out bad medicine? IT’S CALLED POPULATION CONTROL! All of them should BE IN JAIL! Furthermore, they should be sujected to their own medicines. I wonder how Bill and Melinda would feel about that? Hmmmm.
Bill Gates – Truly a man with more money than brains. He has taken credit for other people’s work for years, now he wants ‘credit’ for vaccinating all these children. Well, he’s also more concerned about being seen as a great man than he is about the health and safety of these poor kids.
This is so sad to hear, an uncomfortable truth. It is uncomfortable only because at the time I do not have the means or authority to take action or respond to the action of the Gates. I would prefer and like to hear this is in no way intentional :(
Seems they should be concentrating on creating a healthy environment so that these kids and adults can develop a strong immune system, stuff like food, water, shelter, EDUCATION. They may be pumping hundreds of millions into something, but it still seems like the easy way out…
And how many would have died without the vacine. Have you checked that out. Why not tell the whole story, instead of your side only. 50 paralised compared to how many are still living after getting the vacine who would otherwise have died.

Only if you helping killing them, I would consider the other side of the story. But knowing that it was supposed to be a well good deeds, I will label you as ignorance.
